big three credit reporting agencies
same debt on credit report twice?

I went on my credit report today and found that there were three elements that are negative in the report twice. One under the original creditor, and another in the collection agency has been sold. Is this normal? Is my credit worse than it really is? Im finally in a position where he can start working on this, but I have so much questions. The original is larger $ 1,045 killed. The duplicate says open. I have no idea what that means. Any help is appreciated.

I agree with a poster that says that if a collector is selling to another collector may both report on a village credit report no, FCRA does not. Only the original creditor and collector who has given or is the owner of the debt may be reported. If you sell collector account, and do not have the legal right continue to report. If the account was sold to the collector or the debt was assigned to the collector and the collector of the reports of the account, then the original creditor must report with a balance zero if they continue to report. You can click on my profile and click on the links provided to the FTC FDCPA and FCRA and read a little.
