Ombuds ‘are well placed’ to identify worrying trends in financial services sector
Financial sector ombudsmen should be trying to identify patterns of misbehaviour that can be reported to and dealt with by the relevant regulator, instead of simply dealing with issues on a case-by-case basis, Gabriel Davel, the chief executive of the National Credit Regulator (NCR), told an international conference for financial ombudsmen in Cape Town this week.
