Consumer Credit Reports Rights

consumer credit reports rights
I was terminated from Wal-mart after 1 week due to info on my credit report.?

I was hired as a ‘cart pusher’ at a Wal-mart in Arizona. I had a full day of orientation on a Tuesday and worked every day 7am-4pm thru the following Monday at 3pm at which time my supervisor informed me that something came up on my background check and my position was no longer available to me and I would be receiving a letter in the mail. I got the letter today and it said their decision was based on info provided to them in a Consumer Report. It also states that I was given a copy of the report and a copy of “A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act” and an opportunity to dispute the information. I received neither of these nor the opportunity to dispute it. It also says that because I previously had the opportunity to dispute the information in the report, any dispute will not affect Wal-marts decision at this time. Is there anything I can do? I really want my job as a Wal-mart cart pusher back. Work is so hard to find right now.

Wal-Mart is very sensitive (paranoid) to potential theft by customers AND employees. There’s something on your report that Wal-Mart thinks that you could be subject to theft to pay a debt that is past due.

It’s at the point now that potential job seekers need to do their own credit check before applying for a job, especially in the retail and financial industries.

Clear up the derogatory info and re-apply to Wal-Mart.
