Is it acceptable for employers to request your credit file?

I'm looking for a job. One of the emails sent one company responded to a request for me to get some things. One of them was my credit. My question is: is it may be asked to obtain and submit a copy of my report credit?

Can ask. I do not mean that if things have evolved into a real offer.
