Your access to free credit reports
The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each national consumer reporting companies – Equifax, Experian and TransUnion – to provide a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months.
It is true that you are entitled to a free credit report every 12 months from each of the consumer credit companies nationwide. And consumers who are eligible to receive a report free annual credit report request service, consumers in some states are eligible for a credit report under state law. The following states have laws that make free credit reports available to consumers: Colorado, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Vermont.
