Credit Report Review
2010

How long can a credit card company us one late payment against you.?
In October of 2004 I will admit I missed a payment, moved and didn’t get bill, my fault, but the bank is still showing it against me even though I did pay it as soon as they called and I have not been late since, but in reviewing my credit report, it is showing that I have a negative review from this bank. How long can they penalize me for one mistake.
Negative information such as late pays can only be reported for 7 years after the event occurred. So if you missed the one payment back in 2004, that will show until 10/2011.
If that is the only negative item on your report, and it happened almost 4 years ago, I seriously doubt it is affecting your score at all.
