Credit Report Update Time

Experian credit report: I disputed a collection and they updated my report from “PAID” to “PAID CLOSED”?
What’s the diff? Will my score improve?
First time it shows up is OCT and NOV 2003…….I found out in 2007 and got the matter partially resolved in OCT 2007 (transunion and equifax took the collection lines off; experian kept it).
I just last week disputed this collection with experian and they responded today with my update. It wasn’t removed but it was changed from paid to paid closed?
1) When will this come off my report? 7 years from OCT / NOV 2003 is OCT / NOV 2010, just next year!!!!
2) Please explain their update.

“Negative information is deleted seven years FROM THE ORIGINAL DELINQUENCY DATE, which is the date the first late payment was reported. For example,IF THE ACCOUNT BECAME LATE 5 YEARS AGO and you pay it today, the time DOES NOT start over. The late information still WILL BE DELETED IN TWO years.”
