Free Credit Score Followed Monthly Bill
Years ago many people were not able to so easily obtain their credit score as they are now, with a few quick clicks of the mouse and a payment of $14.95 a month you could be looking at your credit score every single day. The Federal Trade Commission has believed for a while now that Experian, a credit bureau and owner of freecreditreport.com is intentionally deflecting people from government authorization sites where clients can get free credit reports by law and instead using the “free” reports as a attract for the price of $14.95 a month.
Although the $14.95 fee allows a client to receive updates on any important changes to their credit report, it is false that they would need to see their credit report. Once every four months is an average amount to see your own credit report. The government believes that Experian looks to the money which averages out to around $650 to $700 million annually based off their ever-growing nine million clients.
Free Credit Report online has produced commercials letting people know about their credit scores and how important it is to stay updated on them. Of course knowing your credit score is a good thing and even staying up to date is better, but they false advertise and when they do that many people are spending money they should not have to in order to get something they do not even need.
In return to these commercials, the government has produced their own parody videos which features a trio singing the song, “Other sites may turn your head, they say they are free, do not be misled. Once you are in their tangled web, they will sell you something else instead.”
It is true that freecreditreport.com has real-time updates about changes to personal credit files and these services are certainly needed when it comes to things like identify theft, but daily people who are spending money every month are just wasting their money just by buying into this website. Especially when the government requires that the three major bureaus Experian, Trans Union and Equifax give each person a free credit report once a year.
Experian and freecreditreport.com have become so influential to people that credit card companies such as Discover and Capital One grouped with Experian to sell private-label adaptations of the monitoring service directly to their clients.
