Judgment against me but i was 17 when i opened the credit card?
I was 17 when I opened a credit card in my local jewelery store and purchase a watch. I was young and did not pay it so they send me to court and they put a judgment against me and now I want to clear this what can i do. I Paid all of it but it is still in my credit report.
Well if you started paying the balance and turned 18 and still paid some then that says you accepted responsibility for the balance and owe it. IF you never paid anything on the card after turning 18 then you should call the jewelry store and tell them you were 17 when the card was opened. The store was not legally allowed to let you sign into a contract at age 17 and you are not responsible for the balance at all.
You need to talk to the judge and all you have to say is that you were 17 when the card was opened. if they made a judgement against you then you have to pay for it.
But you should contact the court to explain that you were 17 and therefore not legally responsible for the card.
