what is included in a credit report?
Does it include bill payment records? or non-payment of a magazine subscription? Anyone know good strategies to convince a mortgage broker that we qualify, even with our less-than-perfect credit? We’ve ‘behaved’ for a few years, but have a few dents in our past…? anything at all that you know would help

It includes all current and past revolving (credit cards) and installment debt (car loan, student loan).It includes lates, when accounts were opened, bankruptcies, deragatory accounts (Charged off).I have never seen a delinquency for a magazine subscription on there. I don’t think they would go on there. You can’t really convince a mortgage broker of anything because they are not the judges or make the decision with your credit report. They may be able to “clean it up” a little with such things as rapid reporting or can advise you how to improve it.
Your best bet would be to request it yourself from one of the 3 major credit bureaus. You will not get “dinged” for requesting it yourself and look it over and then if it’s not accurate then or has alot of issues then contact the credit bureaus and they should help you on how to improve it. Don’t go to a credit repair place.
