Sick of having bad credit please help!!!!!!!?
When I turned 18 I got a credit card and instantly I had good credit even though I worked part time and made crap money. I ended up going to the army when I was 19 and during training I left it up to my stepdad to pay my bills using my bank account needless to say it didnt work. Now im 24 I have a good job, and my credit stinks. About a year ago I paid off a lot of my old stuff, and it rose my credit score maybe 5 points so now its like 530. I made sure the creditor gave me a letter saying it would be deleted if I paid, I paid and hardly any rise. I just want credit so I can stop renting. I want to start having kids with my wife, but I would like to have a house that I own before that. I saw companies that basicly send letters to the credit bureaus and claim that items are not yours. Honestly the items on my report are mine, I will totally admit that I was irresponsible in my teens and trusted the wrong people (my stepdad) but paying this off is not working, please help
I’m sorry that you got into that mess, but it’s great that you are paying off that debt and ensuring your credit reports reflect it. That is actually very smart.
Unfortunately, repairing your credit, the correct and responsible way, takes time and discipline. The best thing you can do for you, your wife, and your future family is to keep paying your bills on time and in full, be careful of who you trust and the money decisions you make, and start saving for a down payment if you haven’t already. Obtaining new credit, albeit will likely have high interest rates, will also help you. It’ll show a home lender how likely you are to pay off borrowed money.
You will continue to see your score slowly rise. And probably, in 2 to 5 years, your score will be good enough to be approved for a loan.
