Putting A Judgement on a Person’s Credit Report?
I attempted to sue a slumlord for not returning my deposit and rent. I had according papers served by the constable in Las Vegas, NV, but the person is avoiding contact. Most likely it will be a default judgement in my favor. But I don’t want her to get away with it. How can I put the judgement against her on her credit report? All I have is her name, phone number, and address. Thank you for your advice!
First, get the judgment entered. Second, if the judgment is entered in Justice Court (under $10,000) then you have to “docket” a “transcript of judgment” with the clerk of the district court. That is the record that the credit bureaus will pick up: if you just leave the judgment in the Justice Court, the credit bureaus will not know about the lawsuit.
