credit reports us companies
how often do banks and credit unions report to credit reporting companies?

We paid off the balance on an auto loan back in October of 2009. This balance was just over $15,000 and does have impact on our debt ratio. All three major credit reporting companies are still showing us owing this balance. I filed a dispute with all 3 indicating that it was paid off and assumed that they would contact our credit union and that would be the end of it. However, all 3 have come back and said that it stands. Yet I have letter from my credit union showing it paid in full. Do I need to continue with the efforts to get this off or just assume that eventually my credit union will report it as paid? I dont think any of the credit reporting companies even bothered to check with our credit union or would have been told that it was paid in full.
