Equifax Credit Report Dispute Address

Fraud Alert notification from Equifax?
I received a notification in the mail from Equifax yesterday that a fraud alert was placed on my credit file. Furthermore, they would send notice to the other 2 credit bureaus. I never requested a fraud alert to be placed on my profile.. I called Equifax and it’s impossible to get through because you need a confirmation number from your credit report which I can’t get because of the fraud alert. Today I was able to get to someone and all they did was try to sell me monitoring services. A couple weeks ago I did dispute a couple things in my reports including an address on my credit profile which I have never lived. Could that have been a trigger for the fraud alert? I did not request one. Are they automatic? I should have never done that because the address had been there for 10+ years.. Either way, I have been planning on buying a new car in the next month or so..How will this affect my plan/obtaining credit? What do I do!!!!??
Send them a letter explaining the situation and copy the other two major Credit Bureaus.
The Address dispute could have triggered it.
Contact them and see if you can fax them your letter to speed it up. Ask for their Fraud department when you call them.
I put on an URL that has some information on Fraud Reports and how they work (Most of the page is sales junk) But, it explains about Fraud Alerts a bit and what they do.
