Equifax Credit Report Example

3 Free Credit Reports?
I know that under US Federal Law, I am entitled to 3 free credit reports from the 3 main credit agencies, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion per year. Am I entitled to 1 report per agency every 12 months or is it every calendar year (once from Jan 1 to Dec 31)?
For example, if I request a report from TransUnion on Dec 29, and then on Jan 3 of the next calendar year, would I be able to get that report for free, or is the law specifically once every 12 months per bureau?
Thanks
It’s 12 months from when you requested the report. For example (I’ll create this situation):
1) You request your credit report (CR) from Equifax (EFX) on 13 Jan. 2009.
2) You requested your CR from TransUnion (TUN) on 20 Feb. 2009.
3) Then you requested your CR from Experian (EXP) on 30 March 2009.
You’ll have to wait until on or after 13 Jan. 2010 to request report from EFX, on or after 20 Feb. 2010. for TUN, and on or after 30 March 2010 for EXP.
You can request your CR anytime from the 3 credit reporting agencies but you will have to pay a fee. It’s varies, less than ten dollars. That’s always an option.
