Why do I have a “security freeze” on my Equifax credit report and no problem TransUnion?
I just checked my credit report on TransUnion – printed it out – no problem.
I tried on Equifax and the website stated that I had a “security freeze” on my report. I have never before used Equfax and have never requested a security freeze so what gives? Why would one credit report be ok and the other have a problem?
Did Equifax actually say your credit report was frozen? Of did you assume that’s what the message meant?
If Equifax requested that you mail your request and include copies of your social security card, driver’s license, and other personal info, there could be a security problem. They want to make sure they only give the report to the actual person.
The credit bureaus are three completely different companies. It is not unusual to have a problem with one and not the others. Usually the complaint with Equifax is problems freezing the credit.
