Equifax Credit Report Identity Theft
2010
What is up with this?
I’m only 20 yrs old, and i don’t have a credit card. But, why is it that i went to this website for a free credit report: www.annualcreditreport.com, and “equifax” asked me a questionaire to validate if if was I who is requesting the credit report, and it asked me what mortgage do i have in 2000, 2004, 2007 and how much was in the mortgage for that year? What the H3LL ?!?!?. First of all, i have never even touched a credit card nor applied for any mortgage. What is going on here? When i answered “none of the above” to the questions, equifax was not able to give me my credit report. I wanted a credit report to see if it was still clean and unused. But, to find out i have a mortage? I really hope this isn’t a matter of identity theft or fraud or whatever, because i care too much for my credit so i can get good things in my future. I don’t know how this happened. Maybe, some person used my ss# or driver’s license number. Will equifax charge a fee if i call them and verify ?
I’ve seen other things listed on my credit report besides credit card activity, so even if you don’t have any cards, there might still be something to report. None of the above was the right answer, but it didn’t work, so….?
That sounds weird to me. Maybe you should call in. I don’t see how they can charge you just to ask them simple questions. Just ask them if they deny reports if you don’t have credit card history and see what they say. That may settle it right there, or alert you to a problem.
Good luck
