Is it fraud to dispute accurate information on credit report?
I have been doing alot of reading on how to fix my credit reports and one of the methods i’ve seen says to dispute any and all bad marks on your credit even if you know it’s correct.
is this true? will i get in trouble if i do this?
No, it’s absolutely NOT fraud. The Fair Credit Reporting Act CLEARLY gives consumers the right to dispute ANY tradeline listed.
When you file a dispute with the credit bureaus, you are merely asking them to contact the original creditor and verify the information is correct.
Besides, how would they PROVE you knew the tradeline was correct?
