Fixing Credit Report Inaccuracies

There is so much wrong on my credit report…?

There are inaccuracies on all my previous addresses, some addresses I never lived at, a credit card I never had which got sent to a collection agency, nonpayment marks when my student loans were in deferment… I put in disputes for some of these things, but what if the credit bureau says “no”? What do I do then? Start another dispute? It has been 2 weeks and they haven’t asked for any additional info. How do I plead my case? There is so much wrong on the report it is crazy! How do I fix the address issue? I really don’t like it showing an address I never even lived at!

Send the letter and copies (copies only) of any documents supporting your claim to the credit-reporting agency. Some agencies allow you to do this online through their websites; however, if you need to send them hard data it’s better to use regular postal mail.

The credit agencies are then required by law to investigate the item in question, usually within 30 days. The report will then be changed and updated to reflect the data provided.
