If a company provides background checks, can you get a free report on yourself?
Maybe they have bogus information. I know that the credit reporting companies are required to give you 1 free report a year so people can check to see if the information is correct. Also if the info is incorrect, how to fix it and is the reporting agency libel for damages?
There is no law for criminal background checks like there is for the credit reporting agencies. This is because the background companies don’t generally store the info like credit agencies do. They get it from the various court records on an as needed basis.
To fix something that is incorrect you need to contact the court where they got the information.
