A question about credit score/report?
Let’s just say that someone was to pay off all of their debts at once.
Once debt-free, how long would it take for the credit bureaus to update one’s credit score to show a vast improvement?
They will show the new balances within a month or so but it may not improve your score.
I once had credit card debt of $227 when I refinanced a mortgage. I was told it was better to have a balance because if you owe zero they can’t compute the debt ratio. Paying in full every month but using it again before the due date keeps you owing a tiny bit but doesn’t cost you interest.
My score is over 800 and I still have a mortgage and owe a few hundred on my credit card.
