Free Government Credit Report Site

Does anyone know a legitimate web site to get an actual free credit report? No fees or hidden charges?
Seems like all the sites I checked want to charge you a fee to protect or monitor your credit. I’m pretty sure there is a web site offered by the government to let you do this. Thanks………

By law, you are entitled to 1 free credit report from each of the bureaus per year but you have to go though this site to get it.
However, the site gives you the report….not the score. If you want your credit score, you will have to pay about $12.00 to get that.
I like to pull my report from 1 bureau every 4 months.
A word of warning: freecreditreport.com is a credit monitoring service. It’s name is a look a like that is supposed to make you think it’s the government site. But they charge you a monthly fee. So make sure you go to www.annualcreditreport.com
You can get additional copies of your credit report directly from the bureaus themselves.
