Is it possible for 2 people to have the same Social Security number?
The past few days, my bank (a credit union) has been reviewing my appication for a car loan. Today, they found that when they pulled my social security number up for a credit check, another name came through the system. My bank called me and let me know of this and told me to call the credit breau (which I did and had them put a 90 day fraud alert on my credit). I also reviewed my free credit report and found nothing unusual, esp. since I am 19 with absolutely no credit built up at all. Today I am going to the bank with a copy of my social so they can look further into it. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with any explination as to why 2 names were coming up on my social security number. any advice or help would be great…this issue is one of the things holding me back from my loan. Did I do the right thing by putting a fraud alert on my credit?
This happened to me once. They miskeyed the persons SS# as mine and got HIS name listed under my account. I had to contact the credit bureau and they had to pull the credit application from the company and determined the error. Turned out they used his Drivers License Number as a SS#.
