If I order a copy of my free credit report from the government’s website, does that negatively affect my credi?
If I order a copy of my free credit report from the government’s website, does that negatively affect my credit rating AT ALL? I’m in the process of buying a condo and I don’t want to do ANYTHING that will bring my rating down, but I do want to check my score.
No it will not affect your score, but you will have to pay a fee to each CRA for your credit score.
What will affect your credit score is when the mortgage broker pulls your credit report (known as a hard hit). When it comes time to find the financing, you must do it within 14 days, under FICO, they treat inquiries for the same type of loan as only one inquiry as long as you do so within 14 days.
Also, those companies that check your credit report to make offers of pre-approved credit do not affect your score and also employers who check a persons credit report do not affect ones score.
