Credit report question / collections ?
I have good credit for the most part. Recently being bull headed though has hurt me. Long story short I have T-mobile and Direct TV on my credit report as a negative and it’s showing not paid and as a collection agency on it. T-mobile actually sent it to (2) collection agencys so it’s showing as a total of 3 negative on my report.
My question is, should I pay them or let them be? How much does it effect your credit score/credit for a loan if it shows paid vs not paid?
And also can T-mobile legally send my unpaid bill to (2) agency’s and both show on my credit? Think if that’s the case they could really be jerks and send it to 5 or 6 to really kill your credit right?
I don’t think they can send one collection account to 2 agencys. I would contact the credit bureau’s and discuss that with them, as likely T-Mobile won’t talk to you unless you agree to pay.
Also, offer to pay the accounts in exchange with them completely removing them off of your credit report. But get it in WRITING before you pay them.
Just one collection account can have devastating effects on your credit report. I’m not sure how much you owe, but if it is in the hundred’s, definitely pay them. It is well worth it in exchange with salvaging your credit, especially with how difficult it is to get loans today. Say if you need a car a year from now. With just one collection account on your credit report, you will probably be denied credit, because banks are very hesitant to give out loans now.
