How long does it take for a resolved negative mark on my credit report to show?
I recently rehabilitated my defaulted student loan and received documentation that they would notify the national credit bureaus and advise them to remove the default status from my credit report. How long should I wait before checking for it’s removal? I’m interested in refinancing my car loan and my student loan was one of the items that was negatively affecting my credit the most. Also, should the removal of my default status result in a noticeable improvement in my credit score? Thank you for any feedback you may have.
It could take up to 60 days for it to show on your credit reports, depending on when the creditor updates to the credit bureaus. Removing a derogatory item should improve your score.
