if you have some incorrect information on your equifax credit report how long to get it taken off????
I have a credit account that is showing as in default status on my credit report and have paid it off in full in 09/06, lombard have said that they will rectify it and are sorry. Can i get anything back from this as my credit rating has been poor because of it. How long before it takes hold on my equifax account
will this sort out my credit rating? how long will it take to sort would you say?
If the original creditor has reported the account as paid it should be corrected once the updated report is filed by the creditor (usualy 30 days, depending upon how often the creditor reports to equifax).
You can seek legal action against the creditor for violation of the FCRA for failure to properly report your accounts status. Since it was paid back in 06 and still shows as being in default. This would be more than just a simple “oversight” on their behalf.
However, if the account went into default first, then you paid it off, it will remain on your credit report for 7 1/2 yrs regardless, only it will no longer be a derogatory entry, but a negative one.
Hope this answer is of help to you
