I have heard that you can delete bad credit or old debt off your credit report is this true?
I have been told you can delete items off your credit report I have thing that are about 6-7 years old. I have also heard the automatically fall off as well. But honestly these are things that I could not pay can I actually delete these and how? Do I need to hire a lawyer to help or do I just write a letter to the credit company’s I am so clueless but really need to rebuild my credit any suggestions? What do I do? No bankruptcy is not something I really want to do where can I research this I live in Texas.
Also before I knew this I had actually made some payments on a debt for an apartment complex I heard I can negotiate with them since I have already opened up that window can I request in writing for them to remove that in exchange to finish paying that debt? I have sent in about 500 dollars in payments already.

There are two time lines involved, the first is governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act and it says that derogatory accounts show on your credit for 7-years from the date of first delinquency this works out to 7-years and 180-days.
There is no way to remove these accounts before this time line runs out and nothing resets it.
The other is the statute of limitations which varies by State and type of debt, this is the legal time that creditors have to come after you in court once this time line passes the debts are considered time barred, this time line can be reset by any payment and in some States even by admitting that the debt is yours.
As far as getting the collection accounts removed this can only be done by a pay for delete agreement which simply says that in return for your payment they agree to remove the accounts from your credit get this in writing before you pay anyone a dime.
