Is there anyplace on web were one can get a totally FREE credit report?
My Granddaughter, is seeking to rent her first apartment, and she needs her credit report. She went to freecreditreports.com and found she had to {{ PAY }}} with a Visa, or MasterCard online for her credit report from their website. So I guess that now free right? She’s seeking a totally FREE Credit report as advertised on T.V, and other places, but “we” have not found one yet! Any help out there?
The government requires that each of the three credit bureaus provide one free report each year. This law was passed to help fight identity theft. You can request them all at once or separately.
I request a report from 1 bureau every 4 months.
You can go to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp
www.annualcreditreport.com -This is not a not for profit site – this is the free site that was set up by the law. Once you get into this site, you pick which bureau you want to get your report from. You can review it on site. I also recommend you print it. Once you close out of the report – you have to pay to get a copy of the report from that bureau again.
The other sites (like separately.com ) are look a like profit sites that you don’t need to use.
